1. When I call in for my reservation, what information do I need to have on hand? top

Click on the “Contact Us” button on the top of the page, and download the reservation contract form. Filling out this form provides all of the information we need to confirm your reservation. Once the form is received, we will check availability and respond to you.

2. What types of vans do you have, what features do they come with, and how much mileage do they have on them? top

In the Colorado fleet, you will find both mini vans and full size vans. All vans are side entry, and allow up to 6 passengers. Seating is configured with the front two seats (driver and passenger), the main bay area (normally where the wheelchair is locked down during transportation) and a rear bench seat. Please note: 6 passengers (counting the person in the wheelchair) in a mini van will be very “friendly and cozy” and does not leave much room for luggage. Please try to plan accordingly.

The mini van types include Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country. Adaptive conversions by Braun, VMI or IMS include 10” lowered floors, power ramps and self-retracting four-point tie down systems with crash tested seat belt systems. Some are available with standard left side (90 degree operation) hand controls and a power transfer seat. It is also possible, upon request, to remove the right front passenger seat, allowing the wheelchair user to ride in that position.

The full size van models include Ford E-250 and GMC 1500. The GMC 1500 comes with “All Wheel Drive” and bay doors on both sides of the van. Full size vans come with a raised roof and side entry double arm lifts with door kits allowing 56” door clearance. As always, there is self-retracting four point tie down systems with crash tested seat belt systems.

3. Are vans always available? top

There are always times when the entire Colorado fleet is rented out. Normally, two weeks is recommend (more for holiday periods) advance notice. Requests with little or no notice are filled whenever possible, based on van and staffing availability.

Wheelchair Getaways corporate insurance policy generally provides secondary coverage. If the vehicle is in an accident, the renter is primarily responsible for liability and repair.
